Acer Aspire R14

Acer Aspire R14

Working can be a chore sometimes, we admit there are times where work starts becoming a routine. But at least within that routine it’s great to have tools that help us get our things done like laptops and notebooks, for the times when you want to finish work somewhere other than the office. This is why laptops and notebooks are such a great thing, it can give you a brand new location for you to work, taking in the different energy or atmosphere that suits your needs.

With that said, we’re giving the Acer Aspire R14 a whirl and so far first impressions are great. The laptop comes with an Intel i5-6200U processor and 4GB of LP DDR3 memory. Storage wise it sports a 128GB SSD for those quick bootups so you’ll have those extra few minutes of efficiency going for you. The Acer Aspire R14 which we received comes in black and has a brushed-look inside and outside. Though we found the laptop a bit heavy at 2.2kg it is by no means not portable, but the issue that we had was that only 4GB of RAM was present.

We like to open tabs, especially when using Google Chrome opening a lot of tabs results in a lot of RAM usage, and 4GB of RAM is a tad low for the modern standards these days where more people are starting to multitask. But regardless of the RAM, if we didn’t abuse the laptop with multi-tasking it works smoothly without a hitch. We can easily say that performance is not an issue on this laptop when doing tasks ranging from creating word documents, excel spreadsheets, powerpoint slides, even surfing and watching high definition videos is a cinch.

Another thing that we loved about the Acer Aspire R14 was its touchscreen, one of the most responsive touchscreens we’ve tested on a laptop. Tapping and tracing were all accurately detected and is definitely one of our most favourite experience on a touchscreen laptop. Getting back to videos and such, the Acer Aspire R14 sports a 14-inch screen which are attached to hinges that enables the screen to bend an almost 360 degrees, turning the laptop into a tablet.

Placing it on a table like a laptop or tablet lets us choose how we want to watch our media, and the Aspire 14 does it perfectly. The colours come out sharp and vibrant and combined with the great sound from the speakers, the Aspire R14 would make a great entertainment laptop.

The Acer Aspire R14 is a great laptop to get if you want a work laptop and for enjoying movies and such, if there’s an option to upgrade your RAM you should take it. Great touchscreen responsiveness, performance, sound quality makes the Aspire R14 worth putting on your shopping shortlist.
